Almond Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Easy, healthy and delicious – the kid-friendly recipe trifecta! With only 8 ingredients this recipe is super easy to make and it freezes well so you can bake ahead for later. With no oil or processed sugar (depending on the chocolate chips you use), this recipe is a healthy alternative to traditional banana bread. Most importantly, it is kid approved!

Almond Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Ingredients

Note: I prefer using half almond flour and half white whole wheat flour for the added fiber, protein, and healthy fats, but you can make flour substitutes based on what you have in your pantry.

  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup super fine almond flour
  • 1 cup white whole wheat flour (or sub all-purpose flour)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder (yes, tablespoon!)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • heaping 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Note: I prefer using a glass bread pan lined with parchment paper. It makes for very easy clean up!

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F and prep a 9 x 5 bread pan either with cooking spray or parchment paper
  • Mash 3 ripe bananas in a large bowl
  • Add eggs, vanilla, salt, baking powder, almond flour and white whole wheat flour
  • Mixed with a spoon until ingredients are combined
  • Add the chocolate chips last and pour mixture into your bread pan (sprinkle a few extra chocolate chips on top for extra chocolatey goodness)
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown on top
  • Allow to cool before slicing
